This City Chic crop top and A-line skirt was one of the outfits Olivia picked for my blog post 'Would you let a teenager dress you - I did?' series. I loved it from the get go, and it is finally on sale...so I bought it ;) The top was reduced from $109.99 to $59.99 and the skirt was reduced from $139.99 to $71.99. So the top was basically free, in fact I am pretty sure they paid ME to take it away - right!?
I was a bit worried that the crop top would only match this skirt so it has just been hanging in the wardrobe looking unloved, until I was putting together a denim look to follow along with the Styling You denim challenge this month. This inspired me to try to mix and match the two pieces with two different outfits. I matched the crop top with my Amco jeans from The Warehouse and a longline singlet by Urban Precinct at Farmers. I love a pop of colour and green is my favourite.
I love the girliness of this skirt against a casual shirt. Tucking the shirt in makes a feature of the waistband and shows the beautiful A-line cut and tea length hemline. My chambray shirt from K-Mart just goes with everything! My shoes are Kate Spade (one of my style icons!)
If you find an outfit you love, buy the whole thing. You can never quite re create it otherwise - I think I would have gone on to search for a crop top I like as much for a long time...
Which outfit is your favourite?
Be you - wear the jewels!
