The gilet (click here for pronunciation) -not to be confused with the galette, which is a type of pastry! The gilet (or long vest if you are a bit fashion term shy like me!) is basically a vest that finishes at waist length or below. Such a versatile piece of clothing and available in every colour, texture, fur and knit you can imagine this winter. I have pulled together a few variations so you can decide which is the best gilet for you.
The Furry/Voluminous Gilet
The 'Faux Fur Peacock Vest' by K&K is a showstopper for the brave. If you want to be warm (and have people stop you in the street to touch your clothes!) then this one is for you. $149.95 in sizes 10-24 from K&K. I have layered it here over the 'Peyton Layering Dress' from Stella Royal by Augustine (currently sold out). The boots are the Transonic boot by Minx $450.
The Relaxed Gilet
Easy to wear and goes with everything, the relaxed Gilet is like wearing your favourite cardigan with a bit of panache. You might need it in more than one colour as you will wear it with everything! This one is the 'Curved Lapel Gilet' by K&K. $189.90 in sizes 10-24.
And this is me being a clown in said gilet......so clearly it is comfortable ;) Pants are by Catalyst - but sold out! Shoes are the 'Twinkle Lace' in black by MInx $249.
The Structured Gilet
Technically a vest or waistcoat, because if it has a structured waist it is not a gilet - moving on...
For those of you who don't like wearing bulky and prefer structure in your clothes (like me!) this one is for you. The vest I am wearing is the 'Tailored Gilet' by K&K, available is sizes 10-24 and currently on sale for $90.93. I have paired it with the 'Piped Ponti Capri' also from K&K, $99.90.
What do you think, will you try the gilet this winter?
As always, be you - wear the jewels!
