Two Girls And A Christmas Party Dress
Hooray it's officially party season! If you are anything like me this time of year brings lots of excitement about Christmas, and lots of anxiety about what to wear to all of those Summer events! "But I'll be too hot, I don't have a bra to go with that, will I be comfortable..." So my gorgeous friend Cait from Chasing Cait Style Coach and I have taken the guess work out of it, by buying the dresses ourselves and dancing about in them for a day. It's a rough job but someone has to do it! We picked two themes 'Brights' and 'Sparkles'.
The Lulu Wrap Dress*, City Chic at The Iconic. $99.95, Sizes XS (14) -XL (22)* I'm wearing size S. (The Iconic sizings says 6-14 I've let them know it's wrong! Just follows XS, S etc).
Etta Dress Sandal from Merchant 1948*, bracelet from The Gems Within.
Cait and I are both pink lovers (you wouldn't have guessed, right?!) so we both picked pink to cover the 'Brights' category! I have to tell you, I really struggled to go out on the high street and find a dress. I shopped everywhere, but eventually The Iconic came to my rescue! This dress is great for many reasons - let's start with the cold shoulder. The cold shoulder is a nod to the 'off the shoulder' trend without having to deal with strapless bras. Here, I am wearing a pink bra underneath and it blends in perfectly, a skin toned bra would work well too. The flutter sleeves cover the part of your arm that a lot of women aren't a fan of (they're only arms ladies!) and the straps are adjustable which is really helpful for getting the perfect fit. Being a wrap dress means you can adjust it to fit most bust sizes and wear it as tight, or as loose as you like (when you find the gingerbread house on Xmas day!! I'm not saying I can eat the whole thing...) You could easily pair this colour with nude or metallic accessories (like Cait has), or push the boat out and go bright bright bright!
These shoes....I just love them! They are the 'Etta Dress Sandal' $209.90 from Merchant 1948. Pink and red suede on the most comfortable platform block heel, they barely feel like heels at all! These beauties are going to be my shoe of the Summer, sure to sell out!
Have you discovered little Party Dress yet? They make adorable dresses in sizes 8-18, but in this case I am wearing the 16 and it is considerably too big. My lovely Mum tried on it on and it looked far better on her (she's about an 18), so when you purchase it, size down! I love an evening dress with a sleeve, who wants to cover all that gorgeousness with a jacket? This dress also comes in gold and I feel so comfy in it I'd happily own both! The lining is actually longer than the picture shows, but I have the elastic tucked a bit to try and get the waists size right. the sequins hang off in long strands which is juts so stunning - festive at it's finest!
Cait is wearing Bohemian Trader's Sequin Dress - last season's but too cute not to share! It's so cute I bought it too, you can check out how I styled it in my post "How to Wear Sequins with Everything!" Cait has paired hers with a vintage clutch + earrings (similar here from Cait & Co) + Sportsgirl heels.
So what are you wearing this festive season? Sparkly or bright? Here are a few more options to get your credit card itching! Don't forget that if you are in Auckland and need help shopping for a special occasion (or a total wardrobe overhaul!) you can book a free 30min phone consultation so we can make a plan! Shopping should be fun, and if it's not - you need me! Working with women sizes 14+ is my speciality xxx
